10.27.14

Well I forgot my planner with all the happenings of the week so I will do my best at hitting all the highlights(: This week Keller and I worked our little fannies off just meeting every single person we could meet, nobody gets left out in the Lord's work!(: And no her first name isn't Helen, I don't know how many times she got asked that haha! But we had some pretty sweet experiences!

So Tuesday when we came home from D Meeting we were just knocking and knocking and no one was home and we came up to this house, the front steps were in a hole and all the siding was torn off and we were starting to question if anyone lived there and just as we were about to pull out a lady comes walking out! So we jumped out of the car and went and talked to her. Her name is Andrea. They just bought the house at the beginning of the year, she is not a member and her husband is LA. She was just chatting our ears off and we offered to do some service for her, she was getting her hair done that day but we planned to go back Thursday to help her out on her farm(: Which we did, it was sweet! We just were cleaning up junk and helped her catch her chickens and all things that are good! Even played with her horses a bit, naturally! I'm glad Sister Keller has my same love for awkward farm animals! (: haha!

Wednesday morning we were knocking on doors again, people watch us out their windows, we're told it's a Raymond thing, but the doors are generally open before we even start up their sidewalk haha! So we get to this one house and a lady opens the door, bible upside down in her hand and says "I'm already studying God's word!" *SLAM* haha! She knows it backwards and front and up and down!! hahaha! Then we helped Sister Roach package her sheets up for a fundraiser and taught her little ninos a little lesson.

Thursday night we taught Phil a lesson and he loves talking about the day we found him. And Sister Jensen came with us and asked him what his thoughts were when we knocked on his door and he said "This is my chance!" It was so sweet!!

Friday we helped at Good Sam's, it was an ice cream social! I love those days! Never a dull moment with Merla and Jerry(: Then we helped the Streibel's (we live in their basement) with a little Halloween primary party. I think the kids really enjoyed it! I got to carve a pumpkin and everything!(: The elders kept mooching dinners at member houses with us haha! We did have a sweet dinner experience though, a familiy's less active son and his fiance ate with us and when we shared the message he was like "Hey dad that's what you always used to say to us!" and started talking about how he hadn't visited or talked about anything gospel related for years! We have got to get the Lethbridge missionaries to go see them!

Saturday we went service tracting and ended up helping a family clean out their garage! The mom is good friends with one of our good friends and they are going through a hard time so we are going to keep swinging by and helping them!  They have the sweetest kids too! They have two sons, Bowen and Aero! hahaha! They fed us lunch and took good care of us! Good way to spend a Saturday, helping people get cleaned up for winter! Then we went to an elderly woman's house, she just got out of the hospital, so we figured while we were in service clothes we'd better swing by and help them out! Well when we got inside she was skyping her daughter on her mission and they were getting ready to skype teach a guy in Ukraine so they invited us to teach with them! It was so sweet!!!(: i can't wait until we get ipads!!(:

Sunday was a pretty sweet day! We got to meet with the stake presidency and we are working a lot with getting the members and people a lot more involved in missionary work! I think they're catching the vision! So all in all it has been a great week!!(: love ya!(:

10.20.14

Transfer week!!

After p day on Tuesday Sister Connor got a call from President Nicholas! He asked her to be an STL! I knew it was going to happen and I am happy I am her only offspring!(: haha

So Wednesday we went around and said goodbye to everyone which was pretty sweet because we taught a lot of lessons! And the Dean's, who Sister Connor had known in Calgary, fed us! After dinner she was like "I can't believe the Dean's just fed me dinner! Miracles do happen!" Sister Connor has definitely left an impression on Raymond! I'm so honored to have been trained by her! It makes me want to work harder to keep up the good work that she did!

So that brings us to Thursday, my new companion....*drum roll please*.... Sister Keller!!!! She trained my MTC companion Sister Dente!!!! I am so pumped! So far we have just been working our little tooshies off!!

Friday we did some contacting, helped at Good Sam's--it was a birthday party! We played this game where they had to keep the  balloon in the air and they got so into it!! It was a blast! haha(: Then we taught Cheryl about the importance of the Book of Mormon! She said she was going to make time to read it this week! We were excited about that! Then we ran into Sam and she said to come back later that night to teach her! So we did and after Sister Keller bore her testimony Sam said "I love how everyone just lights up when they talk about the Holy Ghost! I want that!" So we taught her how to get it! Hopefully she prays and reads her BOM as well!(: We went on splits Friday night I went with Sister Gregson. We taught Brother Rasmussen and the Heggie family (there are lots of Heggies) but this specific family have both a son and a daughter out on their missions. I shared with them the scripture Mosiah 24:15-16 and the dad got teary eyed and said "Our son told us to read that scripture this week! So we have been reading it every morning to begin family scripture study!!" It was so neat! I love the Lord's tender mercies! Sister Keller went with Sister Williams and got the grand tour of Raymond haha!

Saturday we acreage tracted basically ALL day!! We had some unique experiences to say the least. I think there is a reason some people live far out on their own! haha One lady opened the door and she was not hardly wearing any clothing! Yikes! Then we got a few doors slammed in our face... ran into a Menanite who is now praying for us to see the light. ha. Then we ran into a sweet family in second ward, they are also Heggie's! So sweet. Their daughter is going to school at Utah State! The dad bulled dogged in the Calgary Stampede until he tore up his knee!!! And he used to rope with the Burtenshaw's!!! Small world!!(: They also raise lab puppies that we got to hold! So stinking cute! (: It was a pretty good day! We had dinner with the Burton's. She made us homemade tomato soup! And they had some sweet quotes all over their house! One that I really loved was "Pride is concerned with who is right. Humility is concerned with what is right." - I think it was Ezra Taft Benson?

Sunday we did the usual, went to ward councils, attended sacrament meetings and classes! It was a nice warm October day! Pretty unusual for Canada! I'm sure enjoying it! We had a good lesson on prayer in 8th ward Relief Society! Then this morning when I was studying I read 3 Nephi 18 and 19 and it talks about Jesus praying to Heavenly Father! I love prayer! It is so powerful!!!(: Then that evening we had a stake missionary correlation with our ward missionaries and ward mission leaders! It went well! I think we are getting Raymond more motivated! (: Then we taught Ray as usual that evening and he had read Ether 12 and we invited him to look for the miracles through faith. He pointed out a bunch that I hadn't even noticed! There is always more to learn in the scriptures! I love the Holy Ghost! This has been such a good week! Oh and also I thought I had lost my pink jacket! I was trying to think of every house I had been to this past week, which is a lot, and I prayed and called people and just could not find it anywhere! Then as we walked into the Family History Centre to  email this morning there it was hanging up!!! I don't know how it ended up here but I was so happy to be reunited with it(: haha!

I love this gospel, I love all the little things that strengthen my testimony each day! And I love being a missionary and having companions that work hard!! (:

Have a good week! Soak up the last days of October, I know I will!!(:

Love, Sister Egbert

10.14.14 || Letter from Sister Egbert

Where to start this week...Did i talk about our church tour FHE? Well i will start there! We did that last Monday. We had a tour set up to talk about the Book of Mormon. I taught questions of the soul. That Book of Mormon can literally answer EVERY question that we have! If we listen to the spirit and we pray. And it was amazing watching people learn. The Moore's came, they are an investigating family! They also came to church this week!! Woot woot(: And then our friends the Tatlow's brought their friends to the tour as well!!! The members are starting to get the purpose of these family nights!!(: it's so awesome how much farther the work progresses when members make time for missionary work!

We had ZTM's in Glenwood on tuesday! We had the musical number, Sister Connor played the violin while i played the piano. And Elder Gibbs and Warinski sang. They are both choir boys from Utah. We played the him...i don't remember what it's called but it sings "brightly beams the fathers mercy..." Then we stopped by the bank to talk to a referral we had and she wasn't there! so luckily i had a american $10 that i could change for Canadian money haha. Then Vedalyn, she is from the Phllipines and she got baptized in February she invited us over and made us spring rolls and wantons and noodles! Mmm!!! it was AMAZING! Then our appointment with the Charlton family bailed on us so we helped teach mission prep and then we had our weekly correlation meeting with our stake WML. He is so funny he kept busting out these jokes like -- did you know Lehi had a flea? He was told to take his family and "flea" into the wilderness! haha and Nephi's horse was named beuntoyou "Whoa beuntoyou!" hahaha then for you Ash Byu got a new coach, he is from china. His name is Winonesoon haha(: GO AGGIES!

So Wednesday we studied, our goal was to contact all our referrals this week so we did a bunch of  door knockin'. We ate lunch at the high school, they had hawaiin hay stacks. Sister Connor said we need to make "Mud Lake haystacks" haha our of hash browns and sausage and all things that are good! How brilliant hey?(: Sister Connor then taught me how to index so i can teach people! i wish i would have learned all that at home! Then we chatted with our good friend Megan her girls were just getting home from school. She is a less active. We had heard that she hurt her arm but she wasn't wearing a brace! haha she's a go getter. She cracks me up! We need to get her to start coming to church though. But i definitely feel like she feels like she can trust us. One step at a time! We went and did service for our good friend jackie, the one who drove us to the temple a few weeks ago. She is a single girl, we helped her dig some weeds where she is building a new pasture for her horses. Then we taught Phil! He hasn't missed a week of church since we found him! it's been going 6 weeks strong!

Thursday, weekly planning day, we also had our weekly lunch with Dawna Jensen. I was just chatting away when i noticed a MASSIVE HORNET in her house!! ah. i hate bees. sister connor trapped it in a cup and then sat it outside hopefully it died! EW it was sick! but Sister Jensen made us a good lunch none the less! She is the best! We also made new planner covers because this transfer is almost over! Jee wiz that went fast! haha Oh then we had dinner with the Wild's they are an awesome family! they recently moved here from Edmonton. Jordan is in grade 12. We are going to get her to come on some splitz with us!!(: Then we saw George and then Melanie! Melanie has come such a long ways!! She was up in Edmonton this weekend though so hopefully she went to church with her sister. We talked to her about tithing and i wish we would have a while ago! She is afraid to because money is tight!  We tried to explain the blessings that come from it! hopefully she has the faith to try it our and learn for herself! she is so awesome though!

Friday we helped with Bingo at good sam's in the morning, David got so into it!! it was a blast! haha! Then julie would get mad at him for saying bingo when they were trying to get black outs so he would yell bingo just to make her mad then he would just about laugh his dentures out of his mouth!! hahaha(: Then we practiced our song for sacrament meeting with Tekerra and she fed us lunch, then we went back to good sam's for the thanksgiving partay! I just love old people they are so cute(: haha!  That night we taught this single mom, Shantelle, she has two cute cute little boys! the one, Byron, he is almost 8 and Shantelle is a convert and she was like i just don't know how to teach him simply enough so we are going to prep him for his baptism! he's a little cutie! we're excited about that(: Then that night, since elder burrows in training they went up to Calgary we came home to MAIL and claresholm chicken!!! What a good way to end the day!!(:

Saturday morning sister connor broke a cereal bowl. luckily with no cereal and milk in it so it was just a glass mess and not a milk and honeycomb mess(:  Then in honor of her year mark and Elder Burrows 18 month mark she burnt some shoes and he burnt some pantalones! Then we ordered some Russian Books of Mormon for sister harker, because they moved to a new house and some Russians are moving into their old house! so naturally we took pictures with them first(: Then we practiced with Tekerra with Sister Freezie's critiquing to ensure our best performance for Sunday. Then we Visited the Dean's a part Member LA family, who sister connor had taught in Calgary! They are awesome and i taught Liz how to properly peel the shell off a hard boiled egg(: i told her every time she did it from now on she would never forget sister "Eg" bert(: hahaha! We had dinner with the Galbraith's that evening after we visited with Dan the man and made sure he was still planning on church, and he was! So everyone in Raymond just has this wicked amazing art skills and paints every painting hanging on their walls! i've got to learn their ways! it's impressive! the Galbraith's had them all over their living room from siblings and all sorts of family members, including themselves. They are a cute older couple trying to retire haha! After that we went around just contacting people and we came across brother Nishyama. He had been tipping the bottle a bit...but we gave him a plan of salvation pamphlet and hopefully when he came to he gave it a nice read!

Sunday was good and busy as always! We played our song that tekerra sang at good sam's and in 8th ward! it was a rendition of "For the Beauty of the Earth" and "If you could Hie to Kolob" while sister Roach sang the words to "Come ye Thankful People" It was really really pretty...if i say so myself(; Dan did show up to church too, and he brought his roommate/girlfriend lady's nonmember son! it was a really good sunday for investigators! After church we had dinner with the Gardner's which the mom is from Blackfoot! and then we taught Ray, he is still progressing and doing better then ever. Then bishop was going to come with us, but he got sick so we went with sister Robson and he husband to go visit a guy who is trying to get over his cocaine addiction and his wife is a nonmember. It went pretty well and he was nice to us. Hopefully we can get him to see that the spirit is what will help him. it's hard cuz he grew up in a super active family so hiopefully we can change his opinions he's developed over the past like 20 years of his life. Anything is possible with the Lord's help. We just have to be obedient, have faith and follow the spirit!!

Monday: Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!! we had District meeting in the morning, brother tyler came and taught us some about family history work! Then the Tatlows fed us a nice lunch and the Robson's fed us a nice dinner! it's kind of hard to do missionary work on holidays but hey we got treated well none the less. i love raymond for that reason! it's kind of nice having thanksgiving so much earlier then christmas too because by the time that rolls around i won't still be full from thanksgiving. but it didn't really feel like thanksgiving but hey can't' complain(:

Well i love ya! Thanks for all the love and support!
